DONNER LAKE RESIDENCE :
Truckee, California
This challenging site at the west end of Donner Lake has great exposure and view potential, but requires a creative plan to accommodate the granite boulder topography. By stepping up the granite outcropping, the home makes the most of dynamic Donner Summit views from the living and dining areas. The broad gable roof is reminiscent of the Chalet cabin style and is ideally suited to the heavy snowfalls typical in the area. Though the house form is traditional, the house is far from nostalgic. Modern finishes and detailing create a refined, updated interpretation of a Tahoe cabin.
DONAHUE-FOX RESIDENCE :
San Francisco, California
This Victorian-era flat needed an update to accommodate an active couple with a young child. The final design updates more than just fixtures and finishes, it updates the functionality of the house for a modern lifestyle. The kitchen was relocated to be more convenient to the dining and living areas. The 'public' spaces - kitchen, living and dining areas - are now open to each other in the front of the flat. The bedrooms are now adjacent at the back of the flat creating a distinction between entertaining and quiet areas.
BAYVIEW RESIDENCE :
San Francisco, California
This small Bayview home had good bones, but needed work to bring back its old charm. The bathroom was refitted to make the most of a tight space. Finishes are modern, but respect the home's 1930's origins. The kitchen and balcony were reconfigured to maximize the bay views. Custom cabinetry takes advantage of every square inch for storage. We worked closely with the owner, an avid cook, to ensure that every appliance and utensil had its proper place.
BERNAL HEIGHTS RESIDENCE :
San Francisco, California
Three remodels over three years have transformed this Bernal Heights cottage into a home that fits the owners' style. First, we negotiated San Francisco's variance process to build a new deck connecting the living area to the beautifully landscaped yard. Next, the master bathroom was reconfigured to include a separate shower and bath. And finally, the kitchen was completely remodeled to add functionality and style. During this final remodel we also found room for a small laundry on the main living level. No need to haul laundry to the garage!
WILLOW GLEN RESIDENCE :
San Jose, California
This extensive addition and remodel transforms a single story tudor-style cottage into a home for a growing family. The kitchen and baths have been updated to meet the needs of the modern family yet retain key elements of the original cottage.
CLIF BAR CHILD CARE CENTER :
Berkeley, California
A conversion of an existing warehouse space for use as a Child Care Center. Exterior improvements include a playground, deck, awnings, fencing and planting. (Un-built work - Design Review and Permit Documents only)
PENSACOLA RESIDENCE :
Pensacola, Florida
A custom kitchen design for a new custom residence. Programming, Schematic, and Design Development phases including custom cabinetry layout, and plumbing fixture and appliance selection.
MANRESA RESTAURANT :
Los Gatos, California
A conversion of an existing building to an elegant 4 star restaurant. Highly detailed cabinetry, lighting and finishes create a dynamic yet intimate dining space without conventional walls. This project was designed while employed at Zack/DeVito Architecture.
ARTICHOKE STUDIO :
New York, New York
This tenant remodel reflects the energetic, collaborative work environment of a film and video design firm. The studio consists of free floating workstations around a central fixed collaboration, editing, and presentation room.
HEATHER'S DECK :
San Francisco, California
An extensive two-level deck and remodel of an existing San Francisco cottage. The yard is transformed into an outdoor room creating additional living space without increasing the building area.
WOODLAWN CABIN :
Putnam Valley, New York
An addition and remodel of a summer cabin to accommodate a growing family year-round. This includes the addition of a second floor master suite, office and bath, as well as an entry foyer and a new "live-in" stair tower.
21 BUNGALOW :
San Francisco, California
An extensive remodel and addition to a one bedroom cottage in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. This project transforms a craftsman cottage into a modern showroom, archive and living quarters for an art enthusiast in the city.
GLEN TRAIL RESIDENCE :
Topanga Canyon, California
This new residence in an existing low density neighborhood reflects the unique characteristics of Topanga Canyon. The residence takes cues from the natural surroundings and incorporates materials from a greater regional context.
KAUFMAN RESIDENCE :

An extensive remodel of a 2200 sf residence creates a modern open plan interior connecting the interior and the exterior environments. The remodel provides new opportunities for outdoor living with views of the surrounding mountains and canyon.
TATUM RANCH SCHOOL :
Phoenix, Arizona
A new elementary school for 650 students. The classrooms are organized to form a "village", a collection of buildings separated by landscape flowing around and between. This project was designed while employed at Orcutt/Winslow Partnership.
